Frequently asked questions

What do I need?
Windows 10/11 with NinjaTrader 8 (8.1.x), Python 3.10 or later and an AI app that supports MCP. The installer does the rest in about 5 minutes.
Can it really not trade?
On live accounts, no: there is no order tool at all, and all three layers would have to fail at once. Pro includes a practice mode that only accepts NinjaTrader simulation accounts.
Where does my data go?
NT8-MCP runs on your PC (127.0.0.1) and sends nothing to any server. What you discuss with your AI app follows that app's terms: with a cloud service, your questions and its answers go to it; with a local model, they don't.
How does the Pro license work?
With a key that is checked once a week. If you're offline, it keeps working for up to 30 days.
Is it official NinjaTrader software?
No. It's an independent project; NinjaTrader is a trademark of its owner.
Is it investment advice?
No. It's a tool to analyze your own data; the AI can be wrong, so check anything important in NinjaTrader.
